R2 stands for Responsible Recycling and is an international standard specifically created for the electronics recycling industry by Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI).

 

SERI is the only collaborative nonprofit organization in the world focused exclusively on minimizing the environmental and health risks posed by used and end-of-life electronics, while also maximizing the social and economic value presented by this equipment.

The Responsible Recycling (R2) Standard provides a common set of processes, safety measures and documentation requirements for businesses that repair and recycle used electronics.
